SDGs Library
The SDGs Library is the lending library located at the Wise House. This is where knowledge meets the world we live in and the world we want to create! It is the first bilingual lending library dedicated to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, featuring books for both adults and children. A point of reference for those who want to better understand the challenges of our time and actively participate in the dialogue about the future of our planet.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals constitute a global framework for action toward a fairer, more sustainable, and more humane world. They touch upon issues such as climate change, the protection of life below water and on land, the eradication of poverty and hunger, the reduction of inequalities, gender equality, responsible consumption, and collective responsibility toward the environment and society. The SDGs Library translates these global goals into stories, images, and narratives written in simple, everyday language, not scientific papers, but books for adults and children that are easy to read and discuss.
On the library shelves, you can find books about the climate crisis, plastic and pollution, the sea, sustainable food, social justice, peace and war, racism and inequalities, gender equality, and more. Issues that concern us all, regardless of age.
The SDGs Library is open to everyone: you can borrow books and take with you ideas and reflections that continue to resonate within you even beyond the Wise House. You can find ways to talk to your children about important topics, using a book as your starting point.
The goal of the SDGs Library is for all these significant issues to stop feeling distant or “specialized” and to become part of our daily lives. Through books, we want to spark conversations, provide inspiration, and encourage families to talk together about the world around them: to read, to ask, to question, and to think collectively.
Because often, change doesn’t start with grand decisions, but with a story read at home, a question asked, and a conversation opened. And the SDGs Library aspires to be exactly that: a starting point for thought, dialogue, and action.
